"Call Me Maybe" (Timeflies Tuesday April 24th) - Timeflies Ft. Carly Rae Jepsen
Music:
Wow this has to be one of my favorite...if not my absolute favorite Timeflies Tuesday that I have heard so far. Cal and Rez this week tackle Carly Rae Jepsen's track "Call Me Maybe" and damn does Rez seriously know how to make a killer beat. Cal as always giving us an incredible freestyle with such a unique sounding voice. I must say that these guys keep raising the bar on themselves, each week they come out with these incredible tracks that they will soon be headlining arenas this time next year. So check out there tour, grab some tickets, and get a view of them now, up close and personal....because sooner or later you will not have that luxury. If you missed our last Timeflies Tuesday post then check it out here! Enjoy!

"Boyfriend" (Mike Stud Remix) - Justin Bieber (Video)
Music:
Here we have Mike Stud's takes on Bieber's newest single "Boyfriend", and I did not think I would say this but I love this remix.
I made two mistakes when making my assumption above and they are (1) any remix would be better than Justin Beiber trying to rap and (2) how could I ever question Mike Stud's talent and ability with creating a dope track. For those of you that have seen our other posts on Mike Stud you know how great this guy really is. Mike Stud is destine for great success...I mean... he has already taken most of the college aged demograph by storm. Show him some support and "Like" his Facebook page....and then "Like" our Page!

Chill Bump - "Leakin"
Music:Life:
Finally some rap music from this generation is starting to raise its voice to the standing order of the world and music, and with the talent and skill to reach the masses. Hailing out of France, Chill Bump consists of MC Miscellaneous and Bankal on the beats. Their beats are very interesting but very good, crisp, and clean; while the lyrics are heavy with substance and hit the head hard. The versatility is pretty damn impressive, they are different because they have substance while not having to give up any style.
In a world of Mac Millers, where everybody thinks if they where a snapback, gets tatted, and can rhyme some words together, they can rap. Hip-hop isn't just about style, but about substance. It is what is was built upon, and wasn't about making more money than everyone else by being exploited by a label; look at the godfathers: Public Enemy, KRS One, Run-DMC, Kool Moe Dee, etc. Our Society is made up of a bunch of bullshit right now, and music, which should be helping shift the balance and progress the world, is only contributing to the brainwashing that wealth and material possessions are more important than people. I know and trust my generation to break us out of this fucked up world we are inheriting, and it is good to see some music being made by us finally submerging.
Give your mind a break from monotony and give them a listen.

Tupac Preforms at Coachella in the Form of A Hologram
Music: Tech: Life:
So I am sure by now all of you have seen the incredible performance by Tupac (well his hologram) this past weekend at Coachella. But wait...hasn't Tupac been dead for 16 years now??? For those of you that have not seen the video... head to the bottom of this post and watch the video before we get into this discussion.
Ok, I am expecting that all of our first reactions to this performance is..."WOW this is amazing"...but after thinking about it for a while, I started to think just the opposite. Yes the technology is crazy and maybe one day we will be going to concerts where the actual performer could be on the other side of the country performing multiple concerts that the same moment though this technology. (But that is not my point)
But I ask you to view this video and performance through an ethical standpoint. Tupac obviously has been dead for 15+ years now and he had absolutely no say whether or not Coachella had the privilege to bring him back from the dead. How is it ethically right to make a profit off of a dead man?
Also the crowd acted as if Tupac did reselect from the dead, but this was by no means Tupac at all. It is impossible that there was ever a recording of Tupac saying "What the fuck is up Coachella"... simply because the first Coachella performance happened 3 years after his death.
Now we come to the main issue that makes me angry that this performance ever happened. Since the music industry thought this was alright to bring Tupac "back from the dead" and create lines that he never said once in his life...we can begin to see more performances from dead performers. And the music industry loves this idea because they will make a killing off of these dead performers. These artists already have brand recognition so it would not be hard at all to fill major concert venues. And the total cost for these concerts will be minimal compared to what it costs for an actual live performance.
These music industry executives make me furious with this approach to make more money...
So I ask you all.....is bringing these artist back in the form of a hologram really what people want to see? Even if you want to see these performances...do you see them to be ethically right?

"HYFR" (Featuring Lil Wayne) - Drake (Official Video)
Music:
Typically I do not post videos that do not have a download link....but Drake's video for HYFR featuring Lil Wayne is an exception for many reasons. (1) This is a track that will never get old. Play it 2 years from now and you will still think this is a jam. (2) What a great video, with some humor behind it. (3) What the hell is Lil Wayne wearing on his head????
Just hit play and enjoy!

"Now Let's Go In" (Featuring Freddy High) - XV
XV, who is one of the most deserving rappers I know, just released a new track called "Now Let's Go In" which features Freddy High. This is exactly what you would expect from an artist like XV. He goes in to every track with everything he has.
To let you all into XV's world, here is a blurb from his Facebook description:
"Obsessed with comic books, action figures, web surfing, and roleplaying video games, "XV" (born Donavan Johnson) would classify as a "nerd". But his love for fashion, colorful sneakers, and porn disqualify him of being such a stereotype. So, the 24-year old lyricist finds himself playing the same role he played in middle school and high school, in the music industry. The nobody begging to become a somebody."So check out this track and grab the free download. Enjoy!

Chiddy Bang Tracks
Music:
I've been following Chiddy Bang since they first started "Chasing a Dream" back in 2009. This talented duo from Philly have worked together incredibly well since meeting at Drexel University back in 2008. With Chiddy on the vocals and Noah sampling the shit out of everything, these two have made a really good name for themselves. They have given us a few tracks in the past couple weeks that I have posted below with d/l links. Enjoy. "By Your Side" is a straight up jam.

We in this Bitch
Music:
This came out a couple weeks ago so I figure I just pile a bunch of "newish" jams on here and play catch up. The one thing I like best about this song other than Jeezy is a thug and Luda rips it is that there wasn't a single peep from DJ Drama anywhere on the song. He can take the credit for the song and bank just as long as he's not shouting in the background the whole time. Needless to say, this collabo kills it. Stream and download below...

New Wiz Tonight
Music:
Wiz's new mixtape Taylor Allderdice is dropping tonight at 8. The mixtape name comes from the high school he attended back in Pittsburgh, PA. I really don't know what to expect with this one. I'm sure most of the songs have already leaked like "Mary x3" and "My Favorite Song," but I'm just hoping it's not all main stream and soft like his last album. Another Kush & O.J. type mixtape would definitely be much better. Make sure you check it out above when it drops. I put a few Wiz songs I liked below as well.

It's a Cole World...
Music:
Whenever J. Cole gets behind the mic or jumps on a track it is going to be on here. Cole has swag for days. He'll be headlining our spring concert this year at the Zoo and if I have to, i'll camp outside of the Mullin's center for weeks if it gets me floor seats.
Cole has come out with a couple new tracks in the past couple weeks and has hopped on Tyga's newest mixtape as well. His tracks always take a couple listens for me to get the lyrics down but then it's on repeat until the next . "Visionz of Home" was his newest released and he gets into his past upbringing being from NC. There's no video for it yet but take a listen...download link is there too.

New NY Talent Tarik w/ 2nd Mixtape
"T.R.I.G.S" - Tarik
Music:
Let me start off by saying that I'm the new rookie on the blog team. My name is Phil and I'm definitely Murph's (blog creator's) favorite roommate. I'm a senior at Umass Amherst which is sadly coming to an end. I listen and download to music almost religiously so why not share some of my new favorites with the world wide web. Enjoy.
So getting right into it, I never heard of Tarik until about a week ago. I stumbled on one of his singles "Know Your Name" off his second mixtape. He's quickly making something out of himself from Brooklyn, NY. The kid has a couple things going for him. His overall flow is smooth and his ability to sing on the hook and then come in rapping verses has always impressed me about an artist. Easily a song to throw on the bus ride to campus playlist. Look for more good quality hip/hop and r&b from this guy in the future.
You can download the full mixtape or just download some singles I put below. I threw in a couple videos he has made from the recent mixtape with downloads as well. He shows off his quick flow in "Weatherman" and everyone has to rap over "Dead Presidents" I guess. The beat never gets old though. Both of those are after the jump.
Make sure to follow him on facebook and twitter.
Help us grow and follow us on facebook as well.

Mike Posner and Blackbear - "Stay Schemin" (Acoustic Cover)
Gotta love Mike Posner. And you know the ladies will be loving this track. This take on Nas's version is much better in my opinion. The cool sounding guitar coming from Blackbear I think adds to the full effect of the song. All in All....Great Tune.

Music by Tony Williams and Macklemore
Tony Williams (Ft. Wale, Emilio Rojas, & Macklemore) - "Blazin' High"
Download "Blazin' High" by Tony Williams (ft. Wale, Emilio Rojas, & Mackmore)
Many people have no idea who Tony Williams is, truth is neither did I as of 2 hours ago. However he has been in the game for some time now producing for big name artist out there. I really like the track Blazin' High; posted above because it features Wale and Macklemore, who are two of my favorite artist out there now. Tonny Williams has more great tracks on his new mixtape which I would suggest downloading. Download the Mixtape HERE!
I am sure everyone knows who Wale is so, to introduce everyone to Macklemore here aretwo THREE of his videos.
Macklemore - "And We Danced"
Macklemore - "And We Danced: Download"
So for those of you who are ready to write off Macklemore, dont! This video is Macklemore just having fun. My guess is since he became sober 2 years ago, he had to have some other output to have fun, and this is certainly a great way to have a great time.
Macklemore - "Otherside"
This is more like Macklemore. Rapping about the trend of sippin syzurp aka Cough Syrup. The lyrics are very moving and may have you sinking into your seat. If you want to hear the other version to this song which samples The Red Hot Chili Peppers song "Otherside" then check it out HERE. Trust me equally moving.
Macklemore - "The Town"
Macklemore - "The Town" Download
The last track that I will post is Macklemore's song "The Town". This was the first Macklemore song I listened to and it got me to fall in love with his music. Enjoy!
Currently I am looking for a download link for his mixtapes and for these two songs. Once NOW THAT I find FOUND them, these and many more excellent tracks can be yours.
